France had to battle hard yesterday for a win over minnows Albania to qualify for the Euro Cup Round of 16, and not all among their ranks are in a jolly mood with star midfielder Paul Pogba and striker Antoine Griezmann reportedly unhappy over being denied a place in the starting XI.

Pogba - widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world - was introduced after halftime and played a big role in a much improved performance for the hosts after an uninspiring first half. Griezmann, who came on in the 69th minute, put France in the lead in the final minute of regulation time.

Dmitri PayetHosts France beat a dogged Albanian side by 2-0 in Marseille to book their place in the knockout rounds of Euro 2016 on Wednesday. Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet both scored late goals to give France a deserved win over the minnows.

The Atletico Madrid forward, initially named as a substitute, headed home with just a minute of normal time remaining, from Adil Rami's superb cross from the right flank, and Payet added his second goal of the tournament with a terrific injury-time finish after the ball broke kindly to him at the end of a swift counter attack,

The All India Football Federation's (AIFF) technical director Scott O'Donell visited French club FC Metz to review the performance of the five Indian boys who have been training at its academy for the past five to six weeks.

O'Donell spent significant time with the boys, their coaches and observed their training sessions. He was extremely pleased with the training sessions and the progress made by the boys.

Junior Springbok coach Dawie Theron made eight changes to his team to face France in their final pool match in the World Rugby Under-20 Championship at the Academy Stadium in Manchester on Wednesday.

The changes, which the coach described as being a case of horses for courses, included two positional switches, with Curwin Bosch and Manie Libbok switching between fullback and flyhalf.
