Juventus' veteran captain Gianluigi Buffon has urged his teammates to step up their game in order to be more successful in the European Champions League. The Turin giants, who are aiming to become the first club to win sixth consecutive Serie A title this season, went five points clear at the top with a 2-1 win over arch rivals Napoli on Saturday.

But Buffon reminded his team that its form, performance and style of play may not be enough when they compete in the Champions League as they bid to end the title drought in the elite European competition since the 1995-96 season.

Juventus head coach Massimilano Allegri has played down the importance of his side's upcoming Serie A football game against title challengers Napoli on Saturday, saying that the match's result won't be decisive for the title race.

Top-placed and defending champions Juventus are four points ahead of last season's runners-up Napoli, who have accumulated 20 points from 10 matches.

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata on Wednesday said that his return to Italian football champions Juventus is "unthinkable".

In an interview with Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Spanish forward said he was for the first time learning about the rumours of his return to Juventus, where he spent two seasons, indicating that he was now content to be at Real Madrid.

Juventus scored three goals in the space of five second-half minutes to down Empoli 3-0 away as the Serie A defending champions took a four-point lead at the top over second-placed Napoli, who lost 0-1 against Atalanta on Sunday.

Paulo Dybala broke the deadlock in the 65th minute at Empoli's Stadio Carlo Castellani before his Argentine striking partner Gonzalo Higuain fired a brace within the next five minutes to give Juventus a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri called on his footballers to up the ante and return to winning ways after a 1-2 loss to Inter Milan when they entertain Cagliari in Serie A on Wednesday night.

After a draw and a defeat in their last two matches, it should not take much to motivate the five-time defending champions for a return to winning ways at the Juventus Stadium.

Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri insisted that their 1-2 loss to Inter Milan was not a tragedy and feels that it will help them stay grounded after the defending champions' second loss in last 32 Serie A matches. Juventus, who are aiming to bag six consecutive league title, are considered overwhelming Serie A favourites and also a strong contender in the Champions League following a string of impressive signings in the summer.

They won the first two matches easily but drew 0-0 against Spanish club Sevilla and then lost on Sunday to Inter Milan.

Inter Milan showed a lot of composure to secure a morale-boosting 2-1 win over defending champions Juventus, while hosts Fiorentina overcame Roma 1-0 in another Serie A football league.

Juventus on Sunday succumbed to their first league reverse of the season, just their second in 32 Serie A outings as goals from Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic cancelled out Stephan Lichtsteiner's second-half opener at the San Siro stadium.
