Manchester United Manager Louis van Gaal was far from impressed after his team ground out a 1-0 win against Everton at Old Trafford today, the Red Devils' fourth straight win on home turf as they head into the business end of the season.

Van Gaal hit out at his side in his post match interview with Sky Sports, stating, "It was more or less a stolen victory. We didn't play so well, it looked like we were not fresh. You never know how the players will come back from the international break. We were today the lucky team."

Manchester United closed the gap between themselves and local rivals Manchester City back down to a solitary point as the Manchester giants continue to battle it out for the fourth and final Champions League berth after the Red Devils earned themselves a scrappy 1-0 win at home against a very average Everton side.

Anthony Martial was the goalscorer for Manchester United, on a day where the football was far from memorable, but one which United fans will never forget as a stand was named in honour of Sir Bobby Charlton. Martial's goal came as a result of some incredibly sloppy defending from Everton and proved to be the difference between two sides who between them forced the two keepers into just 3 saves.

Chelsea are believed to be looking to raid Serie A side AS Roma to land reinforcements in the form of Radja Nainggolan and Kostas Manolas in the forthcoming transfer window, reports The Daily Mirror.

It is further reported that the side may splash out as much as £45m in a double deal for the players.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger sang the praises of young attacker Alex Iwobi, who is starting to fulfill his promise at the club, scoring the second of Arsenal's two goals as the Gunners eased past Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park this afternoon.

Arsenal, who look set to end this season without anything to show for it, will at least walk away with the promise of some more youngsters developing through the ranks at the club and beginning to make a mark in the first team, with Iwobi the latest to turn potential into performance.

Arsenal kept what slender hopes they have of mounting a late title charge alive by picking up a deserved 2-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park in the early kick-off on Saturday. A 12-pass move was completed perfectly by Danny Welbeck as he rounded the keeper to tap the ball into an empty net to put Arsenal ahead in the 7th minute, before Alex Iwobi celebrated his first Premier League start for Arsenal scoring his maiden goal for the club, latching onto Hector Bellerin's early ball and finishing expertly between Joel Robles' legs.

Everton made just one change to the side that beat Chelsea in the FA Cup last weekend with the suspended Gareth Barry replaced by Muhamed Besic in the heart of midfield. Arsenal meanwhile also made just the solitary change to the side that were beaten by Barcelona in Catalunya on Wednesday with the injured Mathieu Flamini replaced by Francis Coquelin.

Chelsea Interim Manager Guus Hiddink wasn't too disheartened to see his side crash out of a second Cup competition this week as the Blues lost 2-0 to Everton to end their adventure in the FA Cup.

A couple of goals from former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku did the job for Everton after the Blues had competed rather gamely away from home, but appeared to be running on empty come the end of the contest.

Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku was the difference between the two sides as Everton beat Chelsea 2-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 2012. Lukaku scored both goals as the Toffees squeezed past the Blues, whose season seems all but over after crashing out of two Cup competitions within a span of a few days.

Lukaku though, sold by Chelsea to Everton, was in fine form on the night and told reporters after the game, "It feels great, I am just happy for the team and to do something we wanted. Now we have 90 minutes to go and we delivered a good performance after the loss against West Ham.
