The past week has seen Australia’s most promising 12/u and 14/u juniors battling it out in Canberra for the 2017 Australian Claycourt Championships.  The singles finals for the 12/u and 14/u boys and girls were played today at Canberra Tennis Centre, whilst the doubles champions we’re decided yesterday.

“Tennis ACT is honoured to have hosted the 12 and 14-and-under Claycourt Championships,” said Tennis ACT CEO Kim Kachel.

Cricket Australia has today confirmed that fast-bowler James Pattinson will take an indefinite break from bowling as he recovers from a reaggravation of his lower back stress fracture.

Sports Science and Sports Medicine Manager Alex Kountouris said: “Soon after returning from the UK, following the Champions Trophy and his county cricket contract, James presented with back pain.

Cricket Australia has today confirmed that Ashton Agar will return home from the Tour of India with a broken finger. Team Doctor Richard Saw said: “Ashton injured his right little finger whilst fielding in the match last night.

Australia won a much needed toss to go on the front foot in the third ODI at Indore, opting to bat first forcing the Indian fielders to spend time under the hot sun in Madhya Pradesh.

India were unsurprisingly unchanged heading into this game on the back of an impressive run of 8 straight wins, with Virat Kohli also chasing his 6th consecutive ODI series win as Indian skipper.

Belgium has defeated Australia 3-2 on day three of the Davis Cup semifinals. Belgium’s world No.12 David Goffin defeated Nick Kyrgios in four sets 6-7(4) 6-4 6-4 6-4 to level the tie and secure his first win over the Australian in four meetings.

Captain Lleyton Hewitt called upon Jordan Thompson to take on Steve Darcis in the live fifth rubber. The Davis Cup veteran was too strong for the Sydneysider defeating the 22-year-old 6-4 7-5 6-2 to take the win and the tie.

Cricket Australia had paid tribute to former Australian cricketer Bob Holland OAM, who has died aged 70 after a battle with cancer. Holland played 11 Tests and 2 One-Day Internationals for Australia, remarkably making his Test debut at the age of 38.

The leg-spinner enjoyed a lengthy first-class career with New South Wales, and picked up 34 wickets at Test level, including two ten-wicket match hauls - one of those in a famous victory against a star-studded West Indies side at the SCG in 1984-85.
