Moyes to lead Man United next season

Filling the shoes of Sir Alex Ferguson is a huge task for anyone in world football but Manchester United have decided to go for David Moyes to take over the reins at Old Trafford from his fellow Scot. Nicknamed ‘The Chosen One’, Everton manager David Moyes was yesterday announced as the new Manchester United who will start his 6-year spell from July 1. United’s official website quotes Ferguson talking about his successor, “When we discussed the candidates that we felt had the right attributes we unanimously agreed on David Moyes.  David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic. I've admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here. He was a young man then at the start of his career and has since gone on to do a magnificent job at Everton. There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this Club.”

While announcing his decision to hang up his coaching boots, Sir Alex told the media how he was planning to leave Manchester United in the finest shape possible. Though the statement appeared cryptic at the time, he might have, in all probability, been talking about his former player, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Daily Mail reported that David Gill, the outgoing chief executive at the club, flew to Madrid and met Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo's agent. Following this revelation, it has been reported that Manchester United are confident in securing the Portuguese’s return to Old Trafford.

In another extraordinary turn of events that is set to take the English football universe by shock, Chelsea are challenging Bayern Munich’s efforts to sign striker Wayne Rooney from rivals Manchester United. It is reported that Chelsea’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has personally ratified an impressive £30million bid for the 27 year old forward, who had an appeal for a move away from Old Trafford rejected by Sir Alex Ferguson, a fortnight ago.

It is believed that the Blues’ representatives have established contact with Rooney’s agent, and it might be too late to hold him back by the time David Moyes takes over from Ferguson.

On March 5th, 2013, a few minutes after Referee Cuneyt Cakir decided to send Nani off with a straight red card, a decision highly criticised by many, one could see the anger writ on Sir Alex Ferguson’s face. A few minutes later, the lean figure of Jose Mourinho could be seen slinking towards the Manchester United dugout to, what seemed like, agree with him that the foul wasn’t worthy of a red card. The respect Jose had for the legend was unmistakable in his actions, his press conferences. He had recently expressed his desire to manage the Red Devils if the Scot was ever to retire.

Now that his wish has come true, Jose Mourinho has become a close second favorite to take over the reins at Old Trafford.
