With five gold medals at the Rio Olympics 2016, US swimmer Michael Phelps became the most talked about athlete on Twitter followed by legendary Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt and Brazilian football player Neymar.

During the Olympics, over 187 million tweets were sent which led to 75 billion impressions (views on and off Twitter) of tweets, the company said on Wednesday.

This city received 1.17 million tourists during the Olympic Games, including 410,000 foreigners, and zero cases of Zika were reported, Rio mayor Eduardo Paes announced.

Giving out figures at a press conference, Paes said that for the two weeks of the Games, Rio saw a hotel occupancy rate of 94 percent and each tourist spent an average of 424.6 reais ($131.7) a day.

AirAsia here on Wednesday announced a bonanza of free flights for life to all Asean nations' athletes who won a gold medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The low-cost airline will also give athletes from the 10-nation Asean grouping who won silver and bronze medals free flights for five and two years, respectively.

Sports Minister Vijay Goel on Tuesday constituted a two-member committee to enquire into women marathoner O.P. Jaisha's allegations about official apathy and callousness during the Rio Olympics.

The committee consists of joint secretary (Sports) Onkar Kedia and director (Sports) Vivek Narayan. The two member committee will submit its report in seven days, a Press Information Bureau (PIB) release said.
