Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger revealed that star midfielder Santi Cazorla's injury recovery is not progressing as he would have hoped and it could be a while before he returns to action.

Wenger shared, "At the moment, he is far [from returning]. It’s not going as quickly as I imagined it, so certainly in January he will not come back."

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane dismissed a story published in an Italian paper on Tuesday on striker Alvaro Morata's desire to return to Juventus and said the youngster is "happy" with the reigning European football champions where he is "at home".

Morata returned to Real Madrid this summer after a two-year stint with Juventus. But Italian daily Corriere dello Sport on Tuesday claimed that he was keen to move back to Turin.

Italian champions Juventus announced on Tuesday the signing of seasoned Venezuela midfielder Tomas Rincon from Serie A rivals Genoa on a three-and-a-half year contract.

"Juventus Football Club can today confirm that Tomas Rincon has completed a permanent switch from Genoa for a fee of 8 million euros ($8.31 million) -- a figure which could rise by 1 million euros ($1.03 million) on reaching certain conditions within the contract," the Turin club said in a statement.

The Sun reports this morning that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has tapped up the Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic as a long term replacement for Santi Cazorla in the heart of the Gunners' midfield.

Cazorla has struggled with injuries over the last two seasons and is coming to the end of his contract with the Gunners. Having also turned 32 in December, the Spaniard is going to at most be given a new one year deal by Manager Arsene Wenger, who does adore the player, but that isn't likely to change his management approach.

Flush with funds all of a sudden, Serie A Champions Juventus are continuing to plot their resurrection on the European stage with a move for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez according to reports in the Italian press.

In news that is particularly disturbing for Arsenal fans, both of Italy's top sources of news - Tuttosport and CalcioMercato - are reporting that the Old Lady of Turin have identified Alexis Sanchez as their top transfer target and will table a bid for the Chilean superstar should he fail to reach a contract agreement with Arsenal in the summer.

Venezuela midfielder Tomas Rincon underwent medical tests on Thursday to finalise his move to Italian football champions Juventus on loan from league rivals Genoa.

Serie A leaders Juventus announced on their website that the Venezuela captain arrived at the Turin club on Thursday morning to take the physical examination.

A highly-spirited AC Milan hoisted their seventh Supercoppa Italiana football trophy after prevailing against heavy favourites Juventus via a penalty shoot-out 4-3 (1-1) at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. Seventeen-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was the hero for the historic club Rossoneri, making a superb stop against Juventus' Paulo Dybala with the sides locked at 3-3 in the shoot-out on Friday.

With the victory, AC Milan equaled Juventus in the number of Supercoppa trophies and exposed some vulnerabilities in the reigning Serie A and Coppa Italia champions. This trophy was Milan's first in the last five years.
