28 year old Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut continued his fine form at the Shanghai Masters, stunning top seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 in the semi-finals on Saturday afternoon.

Bautista Agut, seeded 15th, played the match of his life, picking up his first ever victory over the world no.1, and opening the door for Andy Murray, who takes on Gilles Simon in the second semi-final to snatch the no.1 ranking from Djokovic.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic on Friday defeated World No.110 German Mischa Zverev 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3 , to reach the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters tennis tournament.

The top seeded Serb had more difficulties than expected against German qualifier Zverev, but finally prevailed after two hours and 20 minutes. The second set alone lasted more than an hour as Djokovic fought back to level proceedings.

World no.1 Novak Djokovic led a galaxy of stars into the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters, beating Canadian Vasek Pospisil on Thursday. Djokovic defeated his Canadian opponent 6-4, 6-4 in an hour and 20 minutes.

He will now play against World No.110 Germany's Mischa Zverev, who defeated Spain's Marcel Granollers.

World no.1 Novak Djokovic advanced to the third round of the Shanghai Masters with a routine 6-3, 6-3 win against Italy's Fabio Fognini on Tuesday. Not as fortunate though was veteran Spaniard David Ferrer, stunned in three sets by compatriot Feliciano Lopez.

Djokovic resorted to his powerful all-round game to eliminate his Italian opponent in the second round, who had previously beaten Spaniard Albert Ramos in the first round.

Third seed Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland outgunned World No.1 Novak Djokovic 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 7-5, 6-3, to clinch his first US Open title at Flushing Meadows, New York on Sunday.

The 31-year-old Swiss continued to show that he is a man for the big occasion, winning his third Grand Slam title in as many major final appearances, after he won the Australian Open in 2014 and the French Open in 2015.

DjokovicWorld no.1 Novak Djokovic and third seed Stanislas Wawrinka will square off in the Final of the US Open on Sunday after both men registered four set wins in their respective semi-final encounters on Friday.

Djokovic threw away a two-sets to love lead and a break in third to drop the third set to Frenchman Gael Monfils in what was a rather bizarre first semi-final with the veteran French player adopting some bizarre tactics in an attempt to throw Djokovic off his game.

France's Gael Monfils defeated his compatriot Lucas Pouille 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 to claim a spot in the US Open tennis semifinals on Tuesday night.

In the semis, Monfils will face Novak Djokovic who eased past Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3, 6-2 in their quarterfinals encounter with the Frenchman retiring hurt after two sets due to a knee injury. Djokovic has now reached the semi-finals or better at 10 straight US Opens, but his eye will undoubtedly be on the top prize up for grabs at the weekend.
