The conspiracy theories continue to abound Manchester United, with the latest from the Metro suggesting that Carlo Ancelotti was Sir Alex Ferguson’s primary choice to succeed him, and David Moyes was approached after the Italian rejected the opportunity to move to United.

According to reports, Sir Alex had tried persuading the 53 year old former Chelsea manager to succeed him at Old Trafford, last week. It was only after Ancelotti declined the offer, that Moyes was approached.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool have been alerted after it emerged today that PSV Eindhoven manager Dick Advocaat has advised star performer Kevin Strootman to move to England, to make a career in the Premier League.

Strootman, who has been on the radar of English Champions Manchester United for a while now, has been instrumental for his team this season, making 34 appearances for PSV. He has contributed significantly to his club’s second place finish in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is in no mood to discuss summer transfer targets right now. The 63 year old Frenchman has refused to divulge any details about the players reported to be on his transfer agenda for this summer and wants to focus solely on getting his team into the Champions League next season.

According to the Daily Mirror, when asked about his plans of signing Wayne Rooney, Wenger brushed aside the topic saying that he would consider that after the season is done and dusted. He said: “Look, I’m not in a position today to speak about any transfer targets. What I am focused on in the short term and after the Newcastle game I give you answer about these questions.”

Sir Alex Ferguson might have lost his hold on Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, but his successor David Moyes wants to leave no stone unturned to persuade the 27 year old to stay at Old Trafford.

The outgoing Everton manager has lavishly heaped praises on the England International. According to the Daily Telegraph, in a speech to the Cambridge Union Society, the 50 year old said: “Wayne Rooney was and is an exceptional talent. When we sold him to Manchester United, he was fantastic. When he left Everton, he was already an outstanding player.

Asmir Begovic, one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in the Premier League, has admitted that he is "flattered” by the interest shown in him by top English clubs, but is committed to playing for Stoke City and wants to do his bit for them by helping them win laurels.

Begovic, who turns 26 this June, has to his credit a number of outstanding performances in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons, and has drawn the attention of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal in recent transfer windows. But the Bosnian has ended all speculations of a potential move away from the Britannia Stadium in the near future, reasserting his commitment to Stoke.

Real Madrid are reported to have begun discussions for a £33 million bid for estranged Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney.

According to CaughtOffside.com, officials in the Spanish capital have been engaged in serious talks with outgoing Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill, to bring the 27 year old striker to Spain this summer. Real Madrid's reported offer price for Rooney, is quite a competitive offer considering the player who has two years left on his contract with United and will in all likelihood be accepted.

Manchester rivals United and City are set to battle each other in the race to bag Udinese youngster Piotr Zielinski according to talkSPORT. The 18 year old midfielder, who made his debut for the Udinese senior team last year, has shown great promise and is tipped to be the next big star in Europe.

Zielinski, a Pole by birth, has made nine appearances for Udinese already, and has come under the attention of scouts from all over Europe. The young star has represented his country at every youth level possible, but is yet to break into the senior national team.
