A brilliant save down to his left from Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio to deny former Polish captain Jakub Blaszczykowski decided the game between Poland and Portugal, sending the latter through to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 after another tense and at times rather dull affair in Marseille.

The benefits of playing on the last day of group matches were there for all to see as Hungary, Iceland and Portugal all advanced to the last 16 of the European Championships after a pulsating day of Group F action saw an amazing 9 goals being scored.

Portugal showed tremendous resolve an courage after a poor start to their tournament to come back from a goal down not once, not twice, but three times as they drew 3-3 with Group F toppers Hungary, who benefited from two deflected goals.

Cristiano RonaldoHungary continue to be the surprise leaders of a tumultuous Group F at the European Championships after Matchweek 2 ended in a pair of draws which leaves the unexpected group leaders within sniffing distance of qualification should they avoid defeat against Portugal in their final outing.

Portugal themselves meanwhile find themselves level on points and behind on goals scored with minnows Iceland, who followed up their 1-1 draw against the Portuguese with another 1-1 draw today against Hungary. Austria meanwhile have got off the mark today courtesy of holding Portugal to a 0-0 draw at the Parc des Princes, but still find themselves bottom of the group having yet to score a goal in the competition, and quite possibly needing a win against Iceland in their last game to qualify.

Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has criticised the celebrations by Iceland's players following Portugal's 1-1 draw with the Group F minnows in the European Championships in Saint-Etienne last night.

Portugal took the lead through Nani in the 31st minute, but Birkir Bjarnason restored parity for Iceland in the second half at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard here on Tuesday evening. Iceland are appearing in their first ever major tournament, and their players and fans celebrated wildly after the match.

Former Manchester United winger Nani felt Portugal dominated their Euro 2016 Group F game against Iceland, despite being held to a 1-1 draw by the European minnows Iceland in a at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Étienne last night.

Nani got the opener in the 31st minute of the contest, before Birkir Bjarnason restored parity for Iceland in the second half. But it were Portugal who had more possession and shots on target.

Portugal and Iceland were the final two sides to get their Euro 2016 campaigns underway and on Tuesday they played a 1-1 draw at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard stadium in Saint-Étienne.

Portugal have been in impressive form under Fernando Santos during the qualifying campaign while Iceland were not only featuring in their first ever major international tournament but are also the smallest nation to ever do so.
