Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal survived a marathon third-round battle against German teenager Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open, prevailing with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-2 win on Saturday.

"It's obviously an important result for me," Nadal said after his win in Rod Laver Arena. "So it's important for me to win a match like this, having been down two sets to one. I'm very happy."

Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal defeated veteran Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 in the second round of the Australian Open on Thursday.

Ninth seed and 2009 champion Nadal, dominated 2006 runner-up Marcos Baghdatis in a superb performance of attacking tennis. Nadal managed to wrap up the win in two hours and 13 minutes.

Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic began his quest for a record seventh Australian Open title with a hard earned win against Spaniard Fernando Verdasco while Rafael Nadal began with a convincing victory over German Florian Mayer at Melbourne Park on Tuesday.

World No.2 Djokovic won 6-1, 7-6 (4), 6-2 in two hours and 20 minutes to advance to the second round, with the second set alone taking over an hour. Djokovic raced to a 5-0 lead in the match and quickly closed out the opening set.

The seeds have been set for Australian Open 2017. Heading up the men’s seeds is new world No.1 Andy Murray, with defending Australian Open champion and fellow world No.1 Angelique Kerber the top seed in the women’s draw.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic is the 2nd seed, while 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has been amazingly seeded no.17!

Former World No.1 Spaniard Rafael Nadal was beaten by Canadian Milos Raonic 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 in the quarter-finals of the Brisbane International championship tennis tournament on Friday.

Just a week after facing off in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi in a semi-final that ended with the Spaniard winning, Nadal and Raonic were again playing each other in Brisbane.

Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal defeated Belgian David Goffin 6-4, 7-6 (5) to win the Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

The world No.9 disrupted 11th ranked Goffin's rhythm by switching sides and changing the pace of his shots at the International Tennis Centre in Abu Dhabi's Zayed Sports City.

Newly Knighted world no.1 Sir Andy Murray lost his opening match of the new season, going down to Belgian David Goffin in straight sets, 7-6 (4), 6-4 in the semi-finals of the six player exhibition tournament the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi.

Murray will get another match in the tournament when he squares off against Milos Raonic in the third-fourth place play-off later today. Raonic was beaten in three sets by former world no.1 Rafael Nadal, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
