Wales football captain Ashley Williams has joined Everton from Premier League rivals Swansea on a three-year contract for a reported fee in the region of £12 million, an extravagant figure for a 31 year old.

The veteran defender is new manager Ronald Koeman's third summer signing, and easily the most important after the Toffees sold young superstar John Stones to Manchester City for £47.5 million earlier in the week.

Australian top scorer and arguably the country's greatest ever footballer, Tim Cahill, has returned to Australia to play in the A-League for Melbourne City, the club announced on Thursday.

Cahill, 36, left Chinese Super League (CSL) side Hangzhou Greentown last month. He has never played professional football in Australia, but was a youth player on the rolls of Sydney Olympic and then Sydney United before he moved to England to join Millwall on a free transfer way back in 1998.

Chelsea still following Koulibaly, Napoli line up replacements

Chelsea are understood to be still unwilling to give up on their pursuit of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, despite having had a massive £42m bid for the player rejected by the Serie A giants. And according to reports in The Daily Mail, the Blues have been boosted in their pursuit of the Senegalese ace, with his club now weighing up potential moves for the likes of Sunderland’s Lamine Kone and Benfica's Victor Lindelof to act as replacement for him, should he move to Stamford Bridge in the near future.

However, they may have to forget all about Icardi

The west London giants, however, have been asked to stay away from Inter Milan ace Mauro Icardi by the club’s new manager Frank de Boer. The Dutchman was quoted telling reporters: “We’ll keep every player we don’t want to sell. Icardi is very important for me and he’ll stay. He’s young, he can learn a lot, but he’s already proven himself to be fantastic. We can work very well together, there won’t be any problems.”

Icardi is also known to have been a target for Arsenal for quite some time now.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, it seems, has now made up his mind to re-sign Romelu Lukaku for the club...at any cost! According to reports in The Sun, the Blues are now set to offer two of their players - goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and forward Loic Remy - to Everton as makeweights in a potential offer for the Belgian superstar.

The Toffees, however, are understood to have already rejected a massive £65m bid from the Blues, for the forward, which in turn means that Conte’s side may have to even offer a significant amount of cash along with the two players, if they wish to tempt the Merseysiders into selling the 23 year old.

Chelsea forward Diego Costa may soon be seen plying his trade away from England, with reports in Corriere dello Sport revealing that his agent Jorge Mendes has offered him to Serie A side Napoli.

The Spaniard has been linked with a potential move away from Stamford Bridge for quite a while now, with his former club Atletico Madrid and French giants Paris Saint-Germain also known to be following him closely.

Chelsea have been handed a massive shock in their pursuit of Everton forward Romelu Lukaku, with reports in The Daily Mail revealing that the Toffees have now commenced talks of a new deal with the sensation Belgian.

It is believed that the Merseyside giants have been angered by the Blues’ chase of their former attacker, and they are hell-bent on keeping him at Goodison Park this summer, with their new boss Ronald Koeman also keen to work with the 23 year old.

Former Everton manager Roberto Martinez has been appointed the manager of the Belgium national football team.

Belgium manager Marc Wilmots lost his job after the team's failure to go beyond the quarter-finals at the 2016 European Championship, with Wales defeating them 3-1 in the last eight stage.
