An astonishing day of runs and wickets from the South Africa left New Zealand in tatters at the end of the second day of the second Test match at Axxess St.George’s on Saturday as the tourists closed on 47-6 in reply to South Africa’s huge total of 525-8 declared.

Faf du Plessis and Dean Elgar added centuries to the one Hashim Amla made on day one before Dale Steyn, Rory Kleinveldt and Robin Peterson claimed a pair of wickets each to set up the possibility of a second successive three-day victory for the home side.

Magnificent fast bowling from Dale Steyn and scintillating batting from Hashim Amla helped South Africa to their most dominant day of the series so far in the third and deciding Test against Australia at the WACA ground on Saturday.

Steyn produced a devastating spell at the start of the play to claim the early wickets of David Warner (13) and run-machine Michael Clarke (5) to start Australia's decline to just 163 all out in reply to the Proteas' first innings total of 225, a deficit of 62 runs.
