Arsenal’s star player of the season Santi Cazorla has reassured all Gunners fans that he isn’t going anywhere. Not one to mince words, Cazorla has come out clean and rejected all advances from Real Madrid, who have now failed twice in their quest of acquiring in his services.

Cazorla was quoted in an interview carried in the Daily Star, “In football you have to live in the moment. I have three years left on my contract and I have not thought of anything like that. Chelsea’s hopes of re-hiring Jose Mourinho as their messiah has increased considerably over the last few weeks and the Special One has made his demands leak out through the tabloids. The Mirror reports that the current Real Madrid boss wants a pay rise, promise of Champions League football and a new contract for Frank Lampard if Chelsea are to pry him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Chelsea’s season is taking its usual end of the season upward turn as the Blues suddenly find themselves with a great chance of winning two major competitions. But the true reflection of Chelsea’s season will be their presence in the Champions League next season and Roman Abramovich’s hopes of landing a big-name manager, be it Jose Mourinho or David Moyes, will depend solely on the Top Four finish.

The North-London derbies have always delivered high-scoring contests down the years and it is no surprise that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are currently locked in a battle for a striker of unquestionable pedigree. Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain is at the centre of a tug-of-war between the local rivals according to the Sunday People, who claim that the Argentine forward has revealed a strong desire to play in the Premier League.

Higuain has lasted at the Santiago Bernabeu for over six years now since arriving from River Plate as a scrawny teenage talent. His progress with Los Blancos has made him a mainstay in the Argentine National squad, for whom he has netted an impressive 18 goals in 31 appearances. He has been restricted to sporadic appearances for Madrid though as Jose Mourinho rarely ever plays the 25 year old and Karim Benzema together and after a fine performance at Old Trafford last week, he has decided to try his luck in the Premier League.

Manchester United and Real Madrid will resume battle in their all-consuming Champions League tie on Tuesday night as Europe’s two biggest names fight to remain in the continent’s elite competition. Amidst all the hype surrounding the fixture, the media has specifically targeted the future of Real Madrid’s star duo in the aftermath of the contest. Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘sadness’ combined with Jose Mourinho’s disdain for the Spanish press had been the tale of Madrid’s season until their impressive demolition of the Barcelona empire this past week.

There have been reports that Ronaldo could be set for a remarkable return to Old Trafford in the summer, with Man United said to be assessing the financial aspect of bringing their prodigy back home. Talk of a innovative deal with soon to be shirt sponsors Chevrolet, which would see the American company sign a separate deal with Ronaldo to ensure his high-wages were being mooted. But Sir Alex Ferguson has quashed all the gossip by declaring to the Daily Mail: “I don't think there's anything, as far as I'm aware, that would encourage me to think he would come back here. I don't think there's anything in that at all.”

Manchester United are seemingly prepared to do everything within their powers to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo as the love affair between the Portuguese superstar and the Red Devils seems to have only increased since the meeting at the Bernabeu recently. Real Madrid’s Champions League tie against United will dictate Jose Mourinho’s future at the club and with it Ronaldo’s too, as the pair have grown increasingly disillusioned with life in the Spanish capital.

Ronaldo has broken every record possible with his goal-scoring feats for Madrid since joining them for a world-record fee of £80m but a paltry return of one La Liga title and a Copa Del Rey do not reflect highly on the 28 year old’s contributions to the club. To make matters worse the attacker has been constantly complaining about the lack of support from the famously over-critical Madridistas.
