Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has levied a massive charge against the Gunners' next Champions League opponents, Bayern Munich for having instigated Serge Gnabry's exit from the club.

Gnabry, who had an excellent Olympic Games this summer, left Arsenal for Werder Bremen on the conclusion of the tournament, but Wenger believes that German giants Bayern Munich were behind the actual transfer and will sign the youngster eventually, quite possibly this summer itself from Bremen.

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has returned to individual training after suffering a muscle injury, the German football giants said on Wednesday.

Bayern Munich did not make it clear if Italian head coach Carlo Ancelotti will be able to count on Alcantara for Saturday's Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen. The Bavarian club hopes that Thiago can join the squad for the Champions League game against Arsenal on February 15.

Striker Robert Lewandowski's late goal helped Bayern Munich secure a 2-1 comeback win over Freiburg away in the curtain raiser of the second half of the Bundesliga football league.

Newly promoted Freiburg on Friday staged a resilient performance against front-runners Bayern Munich, who needed two goals from Polish international Lewandowski to cancel out Freiburg's early opener through Janik Haberer.

Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso will conclude his football career by the end of this season when his contract expires with German football champions Bayern Munich.

At the end of Bayern's recent winter camp, Alonso, 35, told the club's management that he did not want to renew his contract, German magazine Sport Bild said on Wednesday.

Veteran Dutch winger Arjen Robben has agreed to a one-year contract extension with FC Bayern Munich, keeping him at the record German champions until June 30, 2018, it was announced on Monday.

"Arjen is one of the best players in the world in his position. He's played for us for almost eight years now and has become an important part of our club in this time. We're delighted he's going to pull on an FC Bayern shirt for a further year," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in a release.

German giants Bayern Munich defeated FC Mainz 2-1 to clinch the Telekom Cup at Dusseldorf's Espirt Arena. The German champions have won the mini tournament for the third time as they beat Mainz in the summit clash on Saturday.

Carlo Ancelotti's men made a perfect start to the final as Franck Ribery capitalized on a one-two with Thomas Mueller to place the ball into the bottom left corner to mark the opener with four minutes played.

German football champions Bayern Munich announced on Tuesday that Hermann Gerland will succeed Paul Clement as an assistant to head coach Carlo Ancelotti with immediate effect.

Gerland was named after Clement requested a move to the English Premier League club Swansea City.
