Italian football giants Juventus took a step toward the Champions League quarter-finals with a 2-0 away triumph against Porto, who played with 10 men for more than two-thirds of the match.

Despite the disadvantage, the hosts kept the Italian side off the scoreboard until the last 20 minutes, largely thanks to the solid goalkeeping of Iker Casillas on Wednesday.

Argentine forward Paulo Dybala fired a brace as Juventus eased past Palermo 4-1  at the Juventus Stadium to take a 10-point lead at the top of the Serie A standings.

Dybala's superb free-kick in the 40th minute and a late 89th-minute strike sealed win for the Turin giants, who were ahead courtesy Claudio Marchisio's first goal of the campaign in the 13th minute. Gonzalo Higuain too scored his 12th goal in 10 games in the 63rd minute.

Juventus midfielder Hernanes could return to his former football club Brazil's Sao Paulo as he attempts to jumpstart his career, according to media reports.

The 31-year-old has fallen out of favour with Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri, managing just 10 matches across all competitions this season.

There is nothing new to report about the fact that Arsenal have earmarked Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri as a possible long term replacement for Manager Arsene Wenger, but there are rumours floating about in the British press this evening that talks between the Gunners and Allegri's representatives have progressed well and that the Italian is close to agreeing on the move.

It is hard to imagine Arsenal without Arsene Wenger, the club over the last two decades has been built in his image, and while no man is bigger than the club, it is probably safe to say that Arsene Wenger is certainly Arsenal for most people.

Juventus extended its lead in the race for the Serie A title to 4 points over second placed AS Roma after defeating Sassuolo 2-0 in round 22 of competition at the Mapei stadium on Sunday.

Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain and German midfielder Sami Khedira scored for the Bianconeri in the ninth and 25th minutes respectively to set up a comfortable win.

With veteran defender Branislav Ivanovic heading closer to the Stamford Bridge exit, and skipper John Terry unlikely to be rewarded with a new deal at the end of this season, Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte has already begun preparing for his second season in charge of the Blues by lining up defensive reinforcements.

Juventus has denied allegations that members of the football club maintained links with the Calabrian mafia, 'Ndrangheta'.

"In light of a number of articles published in recent days, Juventus Football Club and president Andrea Agnelli would like to announce that the club has instructed its legal team to safeguard its honour and respectability," the club said on its website on Thursday.
