India cantered to a nine-wicket win over Bangladesh in a lopsided second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy at the Edgbaston Stadium here on Thursday, setting up a clash with arch-rivals Pakistan in the final.

Chasing 265 to win after electing to field first, the defending champions did not flinch for one moment as Rohit Sharma scored his 11th career ton (123 not out) and captain Virat Kohli notched up his 42nd fifty (96 not out) to stitch up an unbeaten 178-run partnership for the second wicket. India won the match with 59 balls to spare. While Sharma's innings was laced with 15 fours and one six, Kohli smashed 13 boundaries. Kohli, in the process, became the fastest cricketer in the world to reach 8,000 runs in ODIs in just 175 innings.

Defending champions India will aim to live up to their tag of title contenders and dominate Bangladesh in the second semi-final of the Champions Trophy cricket tournament here on Thursday. Bangladesh rode on a record partnership between Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmadullah to beat New Zealand by five wickets in their last match in Group A.

The South Asians had sufferred a top order collapse, losing four wickets by the 12th over before Shakib and Mahmadullah got together to add 224 runs between them -- Bangladesh's highest partnership in One-Day Internationals (ODI).

England on Saturday sent Australia packing, knocking them out the Champions Trophy after winning a rain marred match via the Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) method - a result that also helped Bangladesh secure a place in the semi-finals. Ben Stokes (102 not out) and Eoin Morgan (87) helped England defeat Australia by 40 runs as the latter failed to progress from the Group A.

Put in to bat by England, who had already reached the semi-finals, Australia posted 277/9, thanks to Travis Head (91 not out), Aaron Finch (68) and skipper Steve Smith (56). During the chase, Stokes and Morgan shared 159-run fourth-wicket stand to help England recover from 35/3.

Bangladesh rode on a record partnership by centurions Shakib Al-Hasan and Mahmadullah to defeat New Zealand by five wickets in their Group A match at the Champions Trophy cricket tournament on Friday.

Needing 266 runs for the win, Bangladesh were off a nightmarish start, losing their entire top order by the 12th over. But Shakib and Mahmadullah then joined forces to add 224 runs between them in 209 balls and snatch victory from what seemed at one point to be also certain defeat.

After they both lost their matches to hosts England and their respective matches against Australia ended in rain-induced no results, Bangladesh and New Zealand head into their final Group A clash of the ICC Champions Trophy here on Friday, desperately needing a win, knowing that also may not fetch them a semi-final berth.

Both Bangladesh and New Zealand have a point apiece and need to win their Friday's fixture in Wales to make it to the last-four stage besides hoping for Australia to beat England in their final group match at Edgbaston on Sunday.

Australian captain Steven Smith bore a disappointed look after his side's second match in the Champions Trophy cricket tournament against Bangladesh was washed off due to rain.

Australia and Bangladesh were forced to split points after their Group A match of the ongoing Champions Trophy was washed out due to rain here on Monday. Australia are now second in the group with two points from as many matches.

The opening match of their campaign against New Zealand was also abandoned due to rain with both teams earning a point each. The men from Down Under trail group leaders England by a single point. Bangladesh, who had lost to England in the tournament opener, have managed a single point in two matches.
