Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes his team will take on a considerably weaker Paris St. Germain team in their UEFA Champions League opener tomorrow, compared to the side that lined up in Ligue 1 last season.

Speaking to reporters today, Wenger said that he believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic's departure from Paris has left the side lacking not just their most potent goal threat, but also the Swede's leadership qualities.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger looked like a relieved man after the Gunners grabbed a late winner against Southampton, one that they barely deserved to stay within 5 points of Premier League leaders Manchester City, crucial even at this early stage of the season.

The Gunners once again looked far from their best today and struggled to create clear cut scoring opportunities against a side that was prepared to play football with Arsenal, and for large periods looked like the more likely to actually win the game.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reserved some special praise for his big money summer signing Granit Xhaka, praising how well the young Swiss midfielder controlled the game and how quickly he has adapted to life in the Premier League.

Xhaka, still only 23, was Wenger's top buy of the summer before his recent addition of German defender Shkrodan Mustafi, and the Swiss international showed more than a few glimpses of what he will bring to Arsenal in the years to come.

Arsenal rookie Rob Holding had another excellent outing today against Watford, playing his role in the Gunners 3-1 win at Vicarage Road as Arsenal finally got their season up and running.

The youngster spoke after the game about the side's performance, sharing, "That’s what everybody likes to do. We like to get the three points most importantly and then send a message and score as many goals as we could. We couldn’t keep the clean sheet that we wanted, but we got the three goals which was enough."

Arsenal fans can hope for a more secure defence this season as Manager Arsene Wenger finally loosened his purse strings and splashed a considerable £35 million for German defender Shkodran Mustafi, the highest he has ever spent for a defender by a considerable margin, more than twice what he has ever paid for a defender in the past!

And while Wenger was predictably not too thrilled at having to spend an excessive fee for the 24 year old, he obviously believes that the investment in Mustafi will pay rich dividends.

Arsenal fans will sleep well on Saturday night with Manager Arsene Wenger celebrating his 650th win at the club and his first of the new campaign at Watford by also announcing the twin signings of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez Martinez.

Wenger was quite confident in his pre-match press conference yesterday that he would sign the duo and probably had both deals done, but wanted to wait till after today's game to make an official announcement to ensure that the Gunners didn't get distracted ahead of an important game considering how Arsenal started the season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed what he expects from club superstar Mesut Ozil this season.

The Frenchman was quoted telling reporters after his side’s 3-1 win away at Watford: “Ozil is not physically there completely but what we want from Ozil is assists and goals and I hope he can get that this season, 10 or 15 goals plus the chances he creates.”
