Brazil will seek a slice of redemption when they meet Argentina in a World Cup qualifier here on Thursday, according to Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder Paulinho.

The fixture will be the Selecao's first at the Mineirao Stadium since their calamitous 7-1 semi-final defeat to Germany in the 2014 World Cup, a result widely described in Brazil as a national tragedy.

Diego Maradona has urged Argentina coach Edgardo Bauza to hand Carlos Tevez an international recall to kick-start the team's ailing World Cup qualifying campaign.

Tevez has not represented the Albiceleste since their World Cup qualifier against Paraguay in Asuncion 13 months ago, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

The Brazilian football confederation (CBF) has been fined for the second time in less than a month for homophobic chants by fans.

World football's governing body FIFA said on Thursday that the CBF was fined 25,000 Swiss francs - around $26,000 - for the behaviour of fans during Brazil's 5-0 victory over Bolivia in a World Cup qualifier in Natal last month.

Argentinean men's tennis team captain Daniel Orsanic has announced that he has chosen the same line-up that beat the UK to face Croatia in the Davis Cup final on November 25-27 in Zagreb.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Orsenic revealed the team's main player would be Juan Martin Del Potro, currently ranked 38th in the ATP rankings.

Hebei China Fortune football club forward Ezequiel Lavezzi has been recalled to Argentina's squad for their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Colombia next month, the country's football association said.

San Lorenzo's Fernando Belluschi was also named after Juventus forward Paulo Dybala was ruled out of the matches with a hamstring injury.

Argentina and Uruguay have reaffirmed their interest in hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will mark the 100-year anniversary of football's showpiece tournament.

Argentinian President Mauricio Macri and Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez made the announcement after bilateral talks covering a wide-range of subjects here on Monday.
