roger_fed_3.jpgRoger Federer and Novak Djokovic led the way into week 2 at Wimbledon on another good day for the seeds, in what has been a surprisingly predictable week of action at SW-19.

The Swiss legend managed to get past a spirited challenge from German Philip Kohlschreiber. Federer displayed glimpses of his invincible self and not for the first time, was the centre of attraction on Centre Court. However, with the first two sets in his kitty, Federer appeared to have pulled his foot off the gas, allowing the German to claw his way back into the match. As Federer tried some tactical innovations, Kohlschreiber stepped up his own game and managed to clinch t

maria_1.jpgIt was an easy outing at Wimbledon for all the seeds on Wednesday, all except Maria Sharapova that is, as the former champion fell in a tight three-setter to Argentine Gisela Dulko 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 in the first match on center court.

Dulko started the match in supreme fashion, breaking 'Masha' in her opening service game and consolidating the break for an early 3-0 lead. An insurance break in the eighth game gave the 24-year old the cushion necessary to seal the first set.

andy_murray5.jpgRoger Federer's dominant showing on the first day was a stern reminder to the players and fans alike that the five-time Wimbledon champion had his eyes set on the trophy he relinquished to Nadal in last year's epic final. With Nadal not taking part in this year's championships on account of a knee problem, Federer for sure must be licking his lips with his famed adversary nowhere in sight. However, Men's tennis is competitive, in fact ultra competitive, on the worst of days. And Federer knows that in Andy Roddick and British hope Andy Murray <

roger_fed_1.jpgWimbledon kicked off on Monday amidst rising British expectations of Andy Murray breaking the long maintained jinx - the last British player to win the All England Open was Fred Perry in 1936. Murray though wasn't scheduled to play on Monday. The absence of World no.1 Rafael Nadal from the event (on account of a recurring knee problem) has catapulted no.2 seed and 5 time Wimbledon winner Roger Federer to the top of the billing.

After completing a historic Grand Slam at Roland Garros earlier this month, Federer is tipped by many pundits to be the man to beat. He took on Chinese Taipei's Yen-Hsun Lu in what was expected to be a walkover for arguably the greatest player of all time to

roger_federer_11.jpgRoger Federer kept his seminal streak of reaching every slam semi over the last 5 years alive as he overwhelmed the Gallic challenge of Gael Monfils in straight sets. The "Jolly Roger" has now reached the last 20 slam semis, a stunning achievement considering the next best is Ivan Lendl's 10. Serena Williams' bid to prove that she is the "Real No.1" took a beating here today as she bowed out to a fighting Svetlana Kuznetsova in a thrilling 3 setter. Kuznetosova now has made her second consec

After last night's marathon tennis encounter between Nadal and Fernando Verdasco, watching tennis today was always going to be a bit of an anti-climax.

yuki_bhambri_1.jpgIn the first of three matches of significance, boys' top-seed Yuki Bhambri of India confirmed a place in the record books and established his credentials as a future tennis great, by winning a very one-sided Boys Singles final 6-3, 6-1 over unseeded German Alexandros-Ferdinandos Georgoudas.

Georgoudas, who had upset second seed Julen Uriguen in straight sets yesterday, was no match for the 16-year old Indian, who wrapped up the match in under an hour, thus becoming the fourth Indian after the father-son pairing of

elena_dementieva_2.jpgDestiny seems to be on Serena Williams' side, as the 2nd seed fought back from a set and 5-3 down to beat former US Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 in a match that lasted a little over 2 hours.

On an extremely hot day in Melbourne, Kuznetsova served for the first set at 5-4, but was broken by Williams. She broke back in the following game and served for the set again, this time holding to love. The first set was littered with unforced errors and though close, the tennis was anything but inspiring.

With the roof closed at the start of the second set and the climate more conducive to play, both players raised their games, and held serv
