After registering their eighth win from 10 games to go atop the Indian Premier League (IPL) table, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma on Monday said he wants his team to approach each game "ruthlessly".

Rohit stared with a 37-ball 56 in Mumbai's five-wicket thrashing of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a league encounter at the Wankhede Stadium here. With the win, the home side also sealed their berth in the IPL play-offs.

Skipper Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 56 guided Mumbai Indians to a five wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a thrilling encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday. Sharma, who slammed six boundaries and one six in his 37-ball knock, and Jos Buttler (33) were the major contributors to Mumbai's cause.

With this result, Mumbai now sit atop the IPL standings with eight wins and two losses while Bangalore have lost eight matches and are now decidedly out of the play-off race.

In-form Mumbai Indians (MI) are all set to take on bottom-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday. The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai are on the second spot with seven wins in nine matches, while lacklustre Bangalore are at seventh spot after having won just two of their 10 games.

Mumbai, who have virtually qualified for the knock-out stage of the cash-rich tournament will have an advantage as the hosts have just lost one game on their home ground.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma's return to form with a half century was spoiled by sheer brilliance with the ball from Ben Stokes and Jaydev Unadkat as the Rising Pune Supergiant scraped home by three runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 match on Monday.

Chasing a decent 161, Mumbai banked on Rohit's 33-ball half century after the opening duo of Parthiv Patel (33) and Jos Buttler (17) added 35 runs. On a roll after registering their fifth win on the trot, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma said Thursday's 8-wicket win against Kings XI Punjab, will give the team the kind of momentum they needed heading into the business end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017.

"So hopefully we can continue our winning streak. The good thing we've done is focussing on one particular opposition and we are going to do that again," he said.
