Monaco are set to sign highly rated Brazilian footballer Jorge Marco de Oliveira Moraes from Flamengo. Jorge has made 54 first-team appearances for Flamengo since his debut in 2104.

"It's a big loss. Jorge is a very talented player. If he leaves he is going to be missed, but that's football, "Flamengo coach Ze Ricardo told Uol Esporte on Thursday.

Manchester United and Chelsea reject Radamel Falcao showed he still has plenty left in the tank as he netted an impressive hat-trick on Saturday to help Monaco win 4-0 in an away match against Bordeaux and move to the top of the Ligue 1 football standings.

The Colombian striker bundled in Valere Germain's cross to make it 2-0 in the fourth minute after Djibril Sidibe opened the scoring just two minutes into the game on Saturday.

German football club Bayer Leverkusen cruised 3-0 past Monaco to finish second following the last game of Champions League's group stage.

For the first time in Leverkusen's history, they completed the group stage unbeaten as goals from Vladen Yurchenko and Julian Brandt, as well as an own goal from Morgan de Sanctis were enough to seal the second place in Group E here on Wednesday.

Monaco went top in Ligue-1 after routing Bastia 5-0 at home, while Paris Saint-Germain suffered a shock 3-0 defeat.

Hosting struggling Bastia at Stade Louis II on Saturday, Monaco got off to the perfect start as with just 10 minutes into the game Kylian Mbappe pounced after Jean-Louis Leca had done superbly to keep out Radamel Falcao's initial header.

Rejuvenated Colombian striker Radamel Falcao was on target as AS Monaco thrashed bottom placed FC Lorient 3-0 to go top of the Ligue 1 table.

The visitors, boasting the French top flight's most potent attack of 39 goals from 13 rounds, went ahead through Falcao on 64 minutes before Thomas Lemar and Gabriel Boschilia scored to help secure back-to-back league wins for the Principality club on Friday.

Monaco managed a 2-1 comeback win at home over Angers, moving back to the top of Ligue 1 whilst opening up a 3 point lead over Paris Saint-Germain once again.

The victory on Saturday put Monaco on 16 points from seven games, two points ahead of Nice who travel to Nancy on Sunday. Angers are 12th with nine points. The Principality side, who were thrashed by Nice three days ago, trailed Angers just 11 minutes into the second half after Famara Diedhiou latched onto a cross by Toko Ekambi.

Monaco's Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim on Thursday defended Colombian footballer Radamel Falcao, who featured with the French side in the 2-1 victory in the first round of the champions league against Tottenham Hotspur, and maintained that he is a forward that cannot be assessed only by the number of goals he scores.

In remarks published by the French press, Jardim said Falcao came in handy in initiating attacks and represented a pivotal support for the team, and emphasized that he performed defensive roles as well.
