Italian champions Juventus qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League football tournament with a 0-0 draw in the second leg of their quarter-final tie at the Camp Nou Stadium.

Barca coach Luis Enrique had said before Wednesday night's game that his side would attempt to overturn the 3-0 deficit from the first leg until the very last minute of the return leg in front of their own fans and he was true to his word. However, Juventus are experts in defending a lead in Europe and despite Barca's best efforts in an intense 90 minutes even players of the quality of Leo Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar were unable to break down Juventus' black and white wall.

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has said the victory over FC Barcelona in their Champions League quarter-final tie was a decisive step on the road to Cardiff, where the final of the tournament will be played.

After taking a healthy 3-0 lead from the first leg to Nou Camp, Juventus held Barcelona to a 0-0 draw in the second leg here on Wednesday night to seal a place in the semi-finals.

Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta acknowledged on Tuesday that the Catalan football giants have to provide a perfect performance to turn around the 0-3 deficit against Juventus in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at the Camp Nou stadium here on Wednesday.

In March, Barcelona made a historical comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16, after a 0-4 defeat at the Parc des Princes with a 6-1 victory at home here.

FC Barcelona have another mountain to climb here on Wednesday night if they want to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League as the Catalan football giants have to overturn the 0-3 defeat they suffered away to Juventus in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

But although they were able to fight back in the previous round after losing the first leg of their last-16 tie 0-4 away to Paris Saint-Germain, hopes are not high for a repeat performance.

AC Milan snatched a late 2-2 draw in the Milan football derby against Inter, while Juventus took an eight-point lead with a 2-0 win over Pescara as second-placed Roma were held 1-1 by Atalanta in the 32nd round of Serie A on Saturday.

Italian midfielder Antonio Candreva opened scoring for Inter Milan after 36 minutes, while Argentine striker Mauro Icardi scored the second goal just eight minutes later.

Argentine striker Paulo Dybala renewed his contract with Serie A side Juventus until 2022, the Turin club announced on Thursday. The Bianconeri explained in a statement that Dybala's original contract, valid until 2020, has been extended until June 30, 2022.

The striker, who scored twice in Juventus' 3-0 victory against Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday, arrived at the club in summer 2015 from Palermo for 32 million euros ($34 million).

Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon has warned the Italian football giants that they should not take FC Barcelona for granted despite a 3-0 lead in the first leg of their Champions League tie. Paulo Dybala's first-half brace and a Giorgio Chiellini header in the second half gave Juventus a 3-0 win on Tuesday at the Juventus Stadium.

But Buffon, 39, has asked his teammates to keep their feet on the ground ahead of second leg in Barcelona next week as they were aware of Barcelona's 6-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after going down 0-4 in the French capital.
