The German football association DFB on Monday extended the contract of its national team's head coach Joachim Low for two years. DFB president Reinhard Grindel and Low have agreed a contract extension until the 2020 European Championship. Low has been the head coach of the national team since 2006, but also served as Jürgen Klinsmann's assistant manager from 2004.

He has overseen 141 internationals (94 wins, 24 draws, 23 defeats), including five international tournaments. The highlight of his reign is the 2014 World Cup triumph in Brazil.

With the annual Safland Sevens Rugby tournament set to be held here on November 12-13, German team manager Manuel Wilhelm said his team has already started gearing up and is looking forward to the challenge.

About the team's preparation for the trip to Namibia, Wilhelm on Tuesday said his team started training again two weeks ago, reports Xinhua news agency.

Germany maintained their 100 per cent record in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers with a 2-0 triumph over Northern Ireland, while only heroic goalkeeping allowed a flat England side to secure a draw with Slovenia.

Julian Draxler and Sami Khedira scored within a span of 15 minutes in the first half as the defending champions made quick work of Northern Ireland in Hannover on Tuesday.

Thomas Müller scored a brace as Germany defeated the Czech Republic 3-0 in a World Cup Qualifying Group C match on Saturday night.

The reigning FIFA World Cup champions picked up their second win in as many games, as goals from Thomas Muller and Toni Kroos secured a comfortable win at the sold out Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.

Canada remains unbeaten at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 after drawing Germany 1:1 in its second group stage match.

Germany's Head Coach Joachim Loew has named goalkeeper Manuel Neuer as the new captain of the national football team, to succeed retired midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Loew explained on Thursday that it is "logical" to name Neuer as a successor to Schweinsteiger since the Bayern Munich goalkeeper has everything required to be a skipper.

Swiss prosecutors are investigating football legend Franz Beckenbauer as part of a corruption probe over Germany winning the rights to host the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Earlier in March, football's world governing body FIFA began looking into six men for their part in Germany winning the rights to host the 2006 World Cup.

Swiss prosecutors said they have launched their own investigations, linked to that of FIFA, BBC reported on Thursday. Beckenbauer, who headed Germany's bid, has denied corruption. Last October, he said he made a "mistake" in the bidding process to host the competition, but denied that votes were bought.
