Manchester City have confirmed that young Portuguese attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva will join them from French football champions Monaco on July 1 for a reported transfer fee of around $55 million.

The 22-year-old made 51 appearances last season, scoring 11 goals and assisting nine as a young Monaco side reached UEFA Champions League semi-finals and also won the Ligue 1 title.

West Ham United on Friday announced that veteran Argentine full-back Pablo Zabaleta will join the capital football club on a two-year deal on July 1, when his contract with Manchester City expires.

A fine defender and respected leader, Zabaleta won two English Premier League (EPL) titles and four other trophies during a nine-year spell with City.

Manchester City veterans Jesus Navas and Gael Clichy have both ended their relationship with the Citizens, leaving the club on the expiry of their respective deals.

The two 31-year-olds joined are surplus to requirements at Manchester City with Manager Pep Guardiola plotting a massive summer overhaul after the club's poor showing in his first season in-charge.

English Premier League (EPL) clubs Manchester United and Manchester City are in the race to sign Brazilian superstar and FC Barcelona forward Neymar.

According to a report in the English press, either United or City would have to part with a world record fee of around £100m ($13.03 million) to do a deal.

While insisting that he has "no reason to leave", Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has said he wants to see what signings the club are able to make in the summer.

Speaking to the "El Larguero" radio show on Wednesday, Griezmann said: "I really like it here. Now Miguel Angel [chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin] must speak with my agent. I do not make plans for tomorrow. I remain at Atletico because I am happy, just the same as the day I joined. I want trophies, to win things - that is why I came here."

After an emotional final game for Manchester City, Argentine defender Pablo Zabaleta said he is considering whether to join another English Premier League club or not. Zabaleta came on to a standing ovation in the 62nd minute against West Brom on Tuesday.

"I would not be the first to leave a club after so many years and come back in a different shirt," he was quoted as saying by BBC on Wednesday.

Manchester City beat West Bromwich Albion 3-1 here to move a step closer to clinching the third place in the English Premier League and a guaranteed berth in the 2017-2018 UEFA Champions League football tournament. In London, meanwhile, fifth-place Arsenal had to work harder than expected in a 2-0 win over relegated Sunderland on Tuesday.

City, with 75 points, are in third place, two points ahead of Liverpool and three better than Arsenal. The Manchester side has a goal differential of +36, compared with +33 for Liverpool and +31 for Arsenal.
