On Day 9 of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, Indian shooters Heena Sidhu and Annu Raj Singh won the Gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol Pairs Women's event. With this win, India's tally of Gold went up to 31, surpassing the previous record of 30 Gold medals in the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. India went on to increase their medals tally a little later on the day, as World Champion Tejaswini Sawant won the Silver medal in the women's prone event and Samresh Jung and Chandrashekar Kumar Chaudary won a second silver in the Men's 25 metre Standard Pistol Pairs' event.

In the 10m air pistol pairs women's event, Australia, Canada and India were tied at 759 points and were all vying for the Gold medal. But Canada had to settle for a Bronze as they scored lesser number of perfect 10s (14) when compared to Australia and India (21 each). Further, India piped Australia to sit on top of the podium and clinch the Gold on the basis of count back.

A lion-hearted performance from Australia's Leif Selby has thrust the world number two into medal contention at the Delhi Commonwealth Games. Despite dropping three of his opening six matches, the 38-year-old climbed to third in his pool this morning (12/10), with only the top-three from each group progressing through to the post-sectional rounds, after producing a rear-guard performance against India's Mohammad Raja to post an 8-8, 7-5 win.

As a result, Selby's fate now rests in his own hands, with only two matches remaining against Guernsey's Matt Le Ber and world number one Safuan Said. Trailing 1-5 midway through the second set, Selby looked down and out as a parochial home crowd cheered Raja's every shot, but the Australian superstar came back to his best as he peppered the jack with some of his trademark best late in the encounter.

There is reason for optimism around Canada's table tennis team, even on a day when all Canadian competitors were eliminated from the Commonwealth Games tournament in Delhi, India.

Two junior-aged athletes have performed extremely well for Canada: 14-year-old Anqi Luo of Mississauga, Ontario in the women's competition, and 18-year-old Andre Ho of Richmond, BC, for the men.

In accordance with the CGF Anti-Doping Standard (ADS) for the XIX Commonwealth Games, the CGF Federation Court conducted its Provisional Hearing this afternoon to consider an adverse analytical finding submitted by Nigerian athlete Osayemi Oludamola after the women's 100 metres final on October 7.

The athlete tested positive for the substance methylhexaneamine, a prohibited stimulant under category S6 of the WADA list of prohibited substances and methods

Ms. Oludamola was notified of the positive result for the A sample and has asked for the B sample to be tested.
