Glasgow 2014 to deliver some carnival Clow-t

Every year, Glaswegians look forward to the giant carnival that weaves it way through the city as part of the West End Festival with great anticipation, but this time, they will also await a chance to see one of Scotland's young Commonwealth Games prospects in action thanks to the involvement of Glasgow 2014.

Victoria Clow, a member of Team Scotland at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games, will form part of Glasgow 2014's colourful showcase on “Festival Sunday” (5 June) as the city closes in on the milestone of three years to go.

Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games on Track and on Budget

Glasgow 2014 is on track and on budget, as the first of the six monthly Games Partners' Progress Reports is published.  The report details the rate of progress being made, and illustrates how the Games are on track to leave a lasting legacy of new and enhanced facilities, whilst also utilising the existing exceptional facilities in Glasgow.

Canada and New Zealand give Glasgow the thumbs-up after visiting the Host City in preperation for 2014

Commonwealth Games Associations from Canada, England, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales were in Glasgow this week to see how the city is preparing for the 2014 Games and were “hugely impressed” with the progress Glasgow has made.

The Commonwealth Games Associations, who are responsible for ensuring the best possible representation from their country at the Games and the well-being of their athletes during competition, met key members from the Organising Committee during the three-day visit and attended a number of key briefing sessions.

Suresh Kalmadi arrested in Commonwealth Games Scam

2010 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi was arrested today by Central Bureau of Investigation on charges of irregularities during the XIX CWG held in New Delhi last year. Kalmadi was earlier summoned to the CBI headquaters for questioning, his third visit to the agency headquarters, before being arrested. Along with Kalmadi, two of his assciates from the Organizing Committee Surjeet Lal, deputy director general (procurement) and A SV Prasad, joint director general (sports) were also arrested.

India's ruling Congress party swung into damage control mode and wasted little time in suspending the MP from Pune. AICC general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi announced "The disciplinary committee of the Congress has suspended Suresh Kalmadi from the membership of the party,". Kalmadi was sacked on January 24, 2011 as Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman when stories about graft surfaced.

Kalmadi aides - Bhanot and Verma - arrested in Commonwealth Games Scam

Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Secretary General Lalit Bhanot and Director General VK Verma were arrested today by the Central Bureau of Investigation under charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating.

A statement issued by the CBI on Wednesday read as follows: "It is alleged that the accused officers abused their official position and entered into criminal conspiracy with a Switzerland-based company and other unknown persons to cheat the government in awarding contract to the said company for acquiring Timing, Scoring and Result System at exorbitant rates of Rs. 107 crore thereby causing huge loss to the government."
