Mumbai Challengers advance to North Division finals after eliminating Punjab Steelers

The UBA North Division semi-final best of three series was settled in two games as Mumbai Challengers eliminated Punjab Steelers 120-104. The UBA Season 4 championship series is being played at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Goa from 10-16 March, 2017.

Mumbai started off with a lineup of Jagdeep Bains, Inderbir Gill, Jimmy Scroggins, Nikhil and Jimmy Scroggins. They faced Punjab’s starting five of Dermaine Crockrell, Bryan, Akilan Pari, Akhilesh and Kaushal.


Mumbai Challengers take a 1-0 lead in UBA North Division Semi-finals series over Punjab Steelers

In the first game of the UBA North Division semi-finals best-of-three series, Mumbai Challengers raced behind a 43-point second quarter as they put on a scintillating display to defeat Punjab Steelers 128-114. The UBA Season 4 championship series is being played at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Goa from 10-16 March, 2017.

Punjab started with a lineup of Ravi Bhardwaj, Akilan Pari, Rajveer, Dermaine Crockrell and Kaushal. They were playing without UBA Season 4 all-star forward Garry Gill who was out owing to an illness. They faced Mumbai Challengers' starting lineup of Jagdep Bains, Alex Scales, Jimmy Scroggins, Nikhil and Inderbir Gill.


Basketball: India down Thailand 86-65

India beat Thailand 86-65 to progress to the semi-finals of the 21st Super Kung Sheung Cup International Basketball Invitation Championship in Hong Kong on Thusday.

It was yet another superlative performance by India captain Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, whose 29 points were spread out over the four quarters, and centre Amritpal Singh who had 18. Shooting guard Pratham Singh returned to form and hit double digits with 11 points.


India's 15 best Basketball players head to USA for training camp

After an exciting third season of the UBA Pro Basketball League in July, the United Basketball Alliance have selected 15 of the top performing players from India to train at the 2nd annual USA Pro Performance camp in Phoenix, Arizona  for a two week camp this December.

The players, who represented different teams during the third season of the UBA Pro Basketball League have been selected from a ground camp at Bengaluru before they were chosen for the all-expense paid training camp. Representing their cities and hometowns, the 15 UBA stars include Siddhanth Shinde, Ajinkya Mane, Prudhvi Reddy, Gurvinder Singh, Manu Thomas, Jairam Jat, Mahesh Padmanabhan and Dildar Singh, among others. 


Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar honoured by President Obama

US President Barack Obama awarded 21 recipients, including basketball greats Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the Presidential Medal Of Freedom at the White House here on Tuesday.

"From scientists, philanthropists and public servants to activists, athletes and artists, these 21 individuals have helped push America forward, inspiring millions of people around the world along the way," Obama said in his remarks.
