Nadal in Super Form

rafa_nadal_australia_2.jpgMurray, Tsonga, Simon, Williams sisters, Dementieva also advance to the second round...

Somdev crashes out, Sania gets tough draw

sania_mirza_australian_open.jpgIndian hope Somdev Devvarman crashed out of the second qualifying round at the Australian Open at the hands of Poland's Lukasz Kubot in a tight three set encounter that could have easily gone the other way.

Somdev started the brighter of the two and wrapped up a rather lacklustre first set, 6-4 doing particularly well on the return of serve. Kubot picked up his game in the second and served a lot better conceding no break points and took his sole opportunity to break Devvarman's serve.

The decider was a marathon encounter which saw 5 breaks of serve and 22 chances created by either player in a set that lasted over an hour and half,
