i_race_mar08.jpgIts time to get those old running shoes out of the closet again, as the IITs are once again hosting their version of the Boston Marathon, the i-Race.

Throw in running, and throw in an IIT, and you are bound to get a technological marvel somewhere in the intersection of the two sets, and that is what the i-Race really is.

So, how does it work ? Well all you got to do is get up in the morning on Sunday (8th March), reach the venue at Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Bay Area (California!) or Melbourne, pin a bar-code on to your running vest, and leave the rest to those geniuses running the show.

The i-Race is a leveler. Based on a mathematical model, it will normalize your score based on age, gender, height, weight

Champion's League action returned with some great matches being played out, and while the England tour of West Indies and the India tour of Sri Lanka went by, the Special Olympics provided both joy and misery for India. Plenty to look forward to in March, though, with the return of Tiger Woods, the next phase of the Champions League and the brand new Formula 1 season. All this, and more, below.

nabi_file_photo.jpgThe 240th Kolkata derby between the big two of Indian football, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan saw two teams at opposite ends of the I-league participate in a battle that is more about pride and local bragging rights than about points and titles.

East Bengal though leading the head-to-head record between the two sides had not beaten Bagan in the last 9 derby games between the two. Bagan, also at the top of the I-league after 15 rounds; came into this game in fantastic form - unbeaten in 12, including wins in their last 10 matches. The last meeting between these two giants ended in a 1-1 draw back in October 2008.<

allen_stanford.jpgThe sporting world is truly in shock after the Securities and Exchange Commission accused the chairman of Stanford Financial Group, Sir Robert Allen Stanford in an $8 billion fraudulent investment scheme earlier this week.

The England and Wales Cricket Board today served notice that it was terminating, with immediate effect, its contracts with the Stanford group and would therefore not be proceeding with any further Stanford Twenty20 matches in Antigua or the Stanford-sponsored international Quadrangular Twenty20 events in England (the first of which had been due to be held at Lord's in May this year).

At a meeting of the ECB Executive Committee held on February 20, ECB Chief Executive David Collier confirm
