Last weekend's derby clash between Manchester United and Liverpool may have been a damp squib, but the post game controversy refuses to die with Reds defender Dejan Lovren accusing United striker Romelu Lukaku of deliberately kicking him.

Lovren, was left rolling around in an exaggerated fashion on the ground just before half-time, after having been seemingly caught in the face by Lukaku's boot, and the Croatian center-back has hit out at the burly Belgian, claiming that he left his foot in there on purpose.

Speaking to the press yesterday, Lovren said, "My honest view is that he did it on purpose. He was over me, he could have moved away. Even if he did it normally he would apologise after that, but I saw he was nervous during the game so maybe that was also the reason."

Lovren wasn't too impressed by the FA's decision not to dole out punishment to Lukaku, saying, "This is not my decision. I cannot say I am disappointed but it is what it is. We need to move on. That is football, part of the game."

Both teams are in Champions League action in midweek with Liverpool taking on Maribor on Tuesday evening, while Manchester United are away to Benfica on Wednesday.
