French veteran Jo Wilfried Tsonga won the Lyon Open, his third ATP Tour title of this season, after defeating Czech Tomas Berdych in the final on Saturday.

The second-seeded Frenchman overcame Berdych 7-6 (2), 7-5 in a keenly contested final. 32-year-old Tsonga snatched the 15th ATP title of his career, and his third in 2017, after wins in Marseilles and Rotterdam.

A delighted Tsonga said after his win, "I am very happy. First title on clay court. It is now added to my CV and I can move on. I am going to enjoy this title today and tomorrow. It has been a great week overall."

"Today was my best match of the week. I served very wel,l which allowed me to relax a little bit during the returning game," he added.

Berdych wasn't too downcast in defeat, saying, “It was a great experience. It was a very nice week. Very calm, a lot of people, which is nice. I played four matches, which is good, that's why I came... One more win and it would be absolutely perfect, but that's all right. Head's up and let's go to Paris.”

Meanwhile, Dutch woman tennis player Kiki Bertens retained the Nuremberg Cup title after beating Czech Barbora Krejcikova 6-2, 6-1 in the final on Saturday. The world No.19 took less than an hour to finish the match and win her first title in 2017 and the third in her career.

Bertens also got the trophy at Nuremberg last year, adding it to the title she won at the Moroccan Open.
