French star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won the Open 13, defeating his compatriot Lucas Pouille 6-4, 6-4 in the summit clash on Sunday.

The final saw Tsonga clinch a ninth victory in a row, with the match lasting 69 minutes. Tsonga produced seven aces against Pouille and managed to hold his serve right through the contest, breaking Pouille once in each set to breeze through to victory.

The 31-year-old Frenchman had won the same tournament twice previously, in 2009 and 2013, while Sunday's title marks the 14th in his career.

“I’m extremely happy I won this week. I played really well. I was very solid until the end. It’s my 14th title and I hope it won’t be the last. I feel great physically. I have worked really hard since the beginning of my career. It’s amazing to win two titles in a row," said Tsonga.

Tsonga's win sees him return to the top 10 in the ATP Tour Rankings, with the veteran Frenchman jumping up four places to world no.7.
