Australia have advanced to the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group quarterfinals after Sam Groth and John Peers defeated Czech Republic’s Jiri Vesely and Jan Satral in the doubles rubber on hardcourt at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, in Melbourne, today (Saturday).

Groth and Peers defeated their Czech counterparts in straight sets 6-3 6-2 6-2 to give Australia an unassailable 3-0 lead.

The reverse singles matches will be played tomorrow (Sunday), with world No.15 Nick Kyrgios set to play world No.54 Jiri Vesely, before world No.65 Jordan Thompson faces world No.157 Jan Satral.

Australia will face the winners of USA vs Switzerland in the quarterfinals in April. The USA currently lead 2-0 after Jack Sock and John Isner both won their opening singles matches.
