Legendary Swiss Roger Federer added yet another glorious chapter to his fantastic tale by claiming a record 18th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open on Sunday, but it was his comments after the match that left fans swooning in disbelief at their idol.

Not only is Federer a fantastic tennis player, he showed that he was also a wonderful human being saying after his five set triumph over long time rival Rafael Nadal, "Tennis is a tough sport, there are no draws but if there were I would have been happy to share it with Rafa. When we saw each other four or five months ago (at Nadal's academy) we never believed we could be in the finals. I'm very happy for you, I would have been happy to lose."

Nadal who fought his own demons bravely to reach the final and was three games away from winning the title, was just as warm in his post match address, "Congrats to Roger, it's amazing how he is playing without being on the tour. It has been a great month for me, I really enjoyed it."

In a match that neither man deserved to lose, perhaps the old adage remains true till this day that tennis was the real winner.
