Arsenal are believed to be currently involved in negotiations with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund over the prospect of their highly rated midfielder Gedion Zelalem moving to Signal Iduna Park, according to a revelation made by The Guardian.
It is reported that the aforementioned talks have progressed smoothly so far and that should Dortmund fail to sign him this winter, they would almost surely succeed in doing so later in the summer transfer window.
The 19 year old was touted to be a first team star in the making at the Emirates Stadium following his move to the club in January 2013. And while he did go on to make a handful of appearances for the side’s senior team, he has failed to provide manager Arsene Wenger with a reason to select him over his other options.
It is further believed that Zelalem, who can play anywhere in the midfield, is himself frustrated with his current situation, and that, in turn, may serve as an opportunity for Dortmund in their pursuit of him.
The youngster played for the Germany at the Under 15, Under 16 and Under 17 levels before eventually opting to play for the United States, for whom he has Under 20 and Under 23 appearances under his belt.
