Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is certainly looking desperate for a new offensive signing this winter, with his side’s recent acquisition – Michy Batshuayi – having failed to perform as expected.
As per reports in the Daily Mail, the Blues are looking to make a move for West Ham United’s sensational winger Michail Antonio now.
The 26 year old, who moved to his current side from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2015, has been a revelation for them so far this season, scoring 8 goals and providing a solitary assist in 19 Premier League appearances. His impressive performances, in the midst of the Hammers’ woes, have led to him being followed by scouts from a number of clubs now.
It is also believed that Conte’s interest in Antonio is not just because of his offensive performances, but also because of his ability to ply his trade as a right back, which may make him a much-valued utility man for the west London giants.
Meanwhile, the Hammers themselves are not expected to be ready to let go of their prized possession, especially not to their city rivals. Also, even if the Blues are able to coax the side into selling the player, his transfer fee is not expected to be a small amount, which in turn may put off Conte in his pursuit of the player.
