Arsenal superstar Olivier Giroud is believed to be on the verge of putting pen to paper on a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The Frenchman was quoted telling Telefoot: “We are about to reach an agreement for an extension [to my contract]. It was also a gesture of confidence, I want to continue the adventure here in this family of Arsenal. I feel good here.”
Giroud, who still has about one and a half years left to run down on his present contract, added that manager Arsene Wenger has full confidence in him and that he considers him to be an important player.
The 30 year old has been a revelation for the Gunners in the past few matches, scoring valuable late goals and saving matches and points for them. In his last 4 games for the club, the player has netted as many goals, thus cementing his place in the hearts of fans once again.
The act of Giroud signing a new contract will surely come as a boost for Arsenal, with the club also believed to be involved in extending the deals for Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. Also, it may also be an indication of the fact that manager Wenger isn’t ready to hang up his own boots as yet, despite his current contract expiring in the summer.
