Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hit out at Referee Mark Clattenberg after yet another poor decision from England's supposed no.1 cost the Gunners a crucial point in the Premier League title race. That didn't go down well with Everton Manager Ronald Koeman, who believes that Wenger always blames the ref when results don't go his way.

Clattenberg awarded a corner against Arsenal in the 85th minute after Laurent Koscielny challenged Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the air from a Leighton Baines freekick. The ball had clearly gone behind off the Everton man, but Clattenberg awarded a corner against the Gunners.

Everton's corner saw Petr Cech produce an excellent save to deny Phil Jagielka from scoring, and moments later from Everton's second corner in succession, Ashley Williams nodded home what proved to be the match winner.

A disappointed Wenger said after the game, "It was not a corner. It was a wrong decision. I am really disappointed because Clattenberg was in a very good position to see that they headed the ball out. It is not the first time we were unlucky with his decisions this season but overall I don't want to talk about the referee. We have to look at ourselves, we lost the game. We started well and then maybe lost a bit of urgency."

Meanwhile, Everton boss Ronald Koeman hit out at Wenger for perpetually being critical of referees in defeats. Koeman said, "I'm not surprised about Wenger's comments because it's the third in a row I won against Arsenal and three times in a row it was about the referee."

"I'm sorry Arsenal, we won through the referee," added the Dutchman, igniting a fire that is bound to rage on in months to come.
