Pakistan take 218 run lead into final day against Cricket Australia XI

Pakistan holds a 218-run lead after day two of their three-day, day-night tour match against the Cricket Australia XI at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns. Resuming at 3-4, the CA XI was dismissed for 114 in reply to Pakistan’s first innings total of 208.

South Australia’s Jake Winter top-scored for the CA XI with 39 runs, forging a 57-run partnership with Victoria’s Matthew Short (27 runs). Wahab Riaz (3-28), Mohammad Amir (3-15) and Rahat Ali (3-26) were the multiple wicket-takers for the tourists.

Pakistan will resume their second innings tomorrow on 124-5, with Azhar Ali unbeaten on 44 off 153 deliveries and Sarfraz Ahmed on four. Queensland’s Mark Steketee has 2-53 for the CA XI, while Tasmania’s Ryan Lees and Cameron Wheatley picked up one wicket apiece.
