Wenger said about Ozil after the game, "The great players make the right decisions in the game situations they face. They always make the optimal solution. To me it didn’t look for a while like the optimal solution, but when the ball was in the net I thought it was! You wanted him to take maybe his chance earlier but at the end he had enough skill to prove that he was right."

Ozil was played through on goal by Mohammed Elneny's first touch of the football since have been introduced for another goalscorer Granit Xhaka, and the German chipped the ball over the Ludogorets goalkeeper before leaving a couple of defenders tasting grass as he passed the ball into an empty net.

Ozil's goal powers Arsenal into the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League for the 17th year running, and keeps the Gunners ahead of PSG on goal difference after the French champions also grabbed a late winner against FC Basel on Tuesday night.
