Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic retained the top spot with 12,900 points in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings released on Monday. Djokovic lost 640 points after he was defeated by Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut in the Shanghai Masters' semi-finals as he had won the tournament the previous year, and was defending 1000 points.

Scotland's Andy Murray garnered 640 points after winning Shanghai Masters on Sunday to be at second spot with 10,485 points and continues to close in on Djokovic. Should results continue to go the Briton's way, the two-time Olympic Gold medalist could well find himself finishing the year as the world no.1.

Canadian Milos Raonic meanwhile jumped up to the fourth spot with 4,690 points, leaving Japanese Kei Nishikori in the fifth place with 4.650 points.

Swiss legend Roger Federer has meanwhile slipped to no.8 in the rankings and will continue to slide further as he is out of action till early next year.

The current ATP rankings and point scores are as follows:
