Indian tennis ace Rohan Bopanna has withdrawn from the upcoming Davis Cup tie against Spain in Delhi due to a knee injury he sustained at the US Open last week.

The veteran doubles specialist, who was expected to partner Leander Paes in the doubles tie on Saturday, 17th September, requested AITA to consider his request for a two week break from the sport.

His request was accepted, and Bopanna has been replaced in India's four member playing squad by rookie Sumit Nagal.

India are already going into the tie without their two best singles players - Yuki Bhambri and Somdev Devvarman - who are also out injured.

Considering that Spain are fielding a full strength side including 14-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal and veteran David Ferrer, the hosts appear to be little more than lambs for slaughter.
