UCLA freshmen Jada Hart and Ena Shibahara advanced to the final of the US Open Junior Girls’ Doubles Championship on Friday with a victory third-set super tiebreaker win.

Hart of Colton, Calif., and Shibahara of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., defeated Kaja Juvan of Slovakia and Iga Swiatek of Poland, 6-3, 4-6, 10-4, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Hart and Shibahara, who were given a wild card into the event, will next face the American duo of Kayla Day and Caroline Dolehide in the final on Saturday. Just last month, Hart-Shibahara defeated Day and Dolehide in the quarterfinals of the USTA National 18s Hardcourts in San Diego and went on to win the tournament. By virtue of that win, Hart and Shibahara were also given a wild card into the women’s main draw. The pair lost to the No. 7-seeded team in the world, Sania Mirza and Barbora Strycova.

“We were all in the locker room before the match and said, ‘Come On. Let’s both win and make it an All-American final,” Shibahara said after the match. “Playing in the main draw really helped us in the juniors.”

It’s the first time since 1992 at the US Open that four U.S. girls have contested the doubles title.
