REVEALED: Big development in transfer saga of Chelsea’s offensive target

Chelsea have been handed a massive shock in their pursuit of Everton forward Romelu Lukaku, with reports in The Daily Mail revealing that the Toffees have now commenced talks of a new deal with the sensation Belgian.

It is believed that the Merseyside giants have been angered by the Blues’ chase of their former attacker, and they are hell-bent on keeping him at Goodison Park this summer, with their new boss Ronald Koeman also keen to work with the 23 year old.

Everton’s stance in the aforementioned matter brings back memories of last year, when they thwarted the Blues’ pursuit of their star defender John Stones, whom manager Jose Mourinho had blatantly courted.

Meanwhile, the above news spells a tough situation for Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who was believed to have been viewing Lukaku as his primary offensive target after failing to coax Real Madrid ace Alvaro Morata to move to Stamford Bridge. And while the side still have the likes of Diego Costa, Loic Remy and new signing Michy Batshuayi as strong attacking options, it will be interesting to see what kind of a price they propose to pay for Lukaku, who was known to be valued at around £75m by his side until sometime back, now.
