Chelsea told £68m not enough for Lukaku, Belgian tells teammates he's leaving

Chelsea are preparing an improved offer for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku as the Belgian gets closer to rejoining the capital football club, according to press reports.

The Mirror revealed that Chelsea are ready to offer up to £68 million for the 23-year-old after a £57 million bid was rejected. That bid though may not be enough either with Everton reportedly holding firm that they will only sell the young Belgian if they receive an offer in the region of £75 million.

The Belgian striker previously played at Chelsea before joining Everton in 2014 for 28 million pounds. Last season, Lukaku scored 25 goals in 46 games for the Toffees.

With Diego Costa's future at the club looking even more uncertain, Antonio Conte-coached Chelsea are desperate to buy a striker, after failing to secure their previous targets - Alvaro Morata and Edinson Cavani.

Whether Lukaku is the best man for the job remains to be seen, but the Blues seem to be pretty clear that their one time reject has what it takes to power them to another Premier League title.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail is reporting today that Lukaku has informed his Everton teammates that he is leaving the club this summer and has reportedly said his farewells.
