Merseyside giants Everton are understood to have become unsure of succeeding in holding on to star forward Romelu Lukaku, with reports in The Daily Mirror revealing that the club are now open to the prospect of letting him move back to former side Chelsea this summer.

However, the report also mentions that the Toffees will look to pocket at least £75m from the sale of the Belgian in the weeks to come, after having already rejected the west Londoners’ opening bid of £57m for him!

The 23 year old, who is widely regarded as one of the most highly rated forwards of his generation in Europe, was sold by former Blues boss Jose Mourinho two summers ago – a deal which was severely criticised by Chelsea fans, considering the potential that Lukaku had displayed during his loan stints with West Bromwich Albion and the Toffees.

Meanwhile, the Blues’ new boss Antonio Conte is known to have become desperate to sign the Belgian now, with star striker Diego Costa set to miss the start of the season due to an injury, and also with him being linked with a potential move back to the Vicente Calderon. However, it remains to be seen if the former Premier League champions would be open to the prospect of spending that kind of insane amount on Lukaku or not, with them having already signed his compatriot Michy Batshuayi sometime back.
