The Czech Republic kept their European Championship Last 16 hopes alive with a hard fought 2-2 draw against Croatia in Paris on Friday.

Ivan Perisic opened the scoring for Croatia before half-time which was followed by a fine finish from Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic to make it 2-0 in their favour after a defensive error from the Czech Republic. Milan Skoda's late header appeared a mere consolation for the Czech as the tall forward nodded home from a delightful pass from the outside of his right boot from former Arsenal man Tomas Rosicky.

But in a match that was interrupted for several minutes when flares were thrown on the pitch by Croatia fans, Tomas Necid scored via a late penalty to ensure Czech Republic came back on level terms and shared the points to keep their tournament hopes alive

The match was entirely dominated by Croatia both at the front and at the back but a poor penalty conceded late in the game helped the Czechs salvage a point .

The Czech team looked dead and buried after Perisic and Rakitic struck to give the Croats a 2-0 lead, but they took full advantage of time added on after crowd disturbances to net a dramatic late penalty to make it 2-2.

Final Score: Czech Republic 2-2 Croatia

Croatian Scorers: Perisic (37'), Rakitic (59')

Czech Republic Scorers: Skoda (75'), Necid (90'+3 pen)
