German midfielder Joshua Kimmich returned to training with the national football team on Thursday after being pulled from practice a day earlier by coach Joachim Low as a precautionary measure.

Kimmich had a mild cold and Low did not want to include him in Wednesday's training session to avoid creating problems for the team, which is still dealing with the injury sustained by Mats Hummels.

During the past season, Pep Guardiola depended on Kimmich at Bayern Munich in both midfield and defence, and Loew can use him at the back in case Shkodran Mustafi, Benedikt Howedes or Jerome Boateng suffer an injury.

Germany will open its Euro 2016 campaign on Sunday against Ukraine. The World Cup winners are in Group C alongside Poland and Northern Ireland.
