World no.1 Novak Djokovic didn't have it all his own way, but the Serb dug deep in a tight opening set to get the better of long time rival Rafael Nadal to advance to the final at Indian Wells, where he will face Canadian star Milos Raonic.

Djokovic continued his recent domination of his rivalry with Nadal, picking up his 10th win in their last 11 meetings, beating the Spaniard in straight sets, 7-6 (5), 6-2.

The opening set was a close affair with Djokovic having to come from behind to force into a tiebreak, saving a set point on his own serve at 4-5. Djokovic opened up an early 4-1 lead in the breaker, but Nadal to his credit came back strongly to level things up at 5-5, before Djokovic was able to wrap up the set at the first time of asking, winning the next two points.

It appeared for a while that a battle royale was on the cards as Nadal held serve bravely at the end of an 11 minute opening game to start the second set, but it was a sign that Djokovic had decided to step things up a bit and the Serb was unstoppable as he cruised through the second set, winning it at a canter.

Up next for the Super Serb is popular Canadian Milos Raonic, who showed no signs of ring rust after his 6 week injury lay off to get the better of Belgian David Goffin, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

A bullish Raonic shared after the match, "I am definitely able to play at a higher level this year and when a crisis occurs during a match I can find the solutions better."

The youngster will have his work cut out for him against Djokovic, who is chasing a 5th title at Indian Wells.
